Alba Tolsma Obituary

TOLSMA – Alba, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday June 2, 2022 in her 88th year. Beloved mother of Walter (Rose), Ina (Jay) Swain, Carlo (Michelle), Linda Lautenschlager, Otto (Tina) and step son of Karl (Shirley). She will be sadly missed by 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, her brother Frank Corti and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her husband Otto, parents Carlo and Olga (Pieroni) Corti, son in law Peter Lautenschlager granddaughter Jasmine Lachnitt, brother Angelo and sisters in law Tina Corti and Susan Soley. Mom was born in Calomini, Province of Lucca, Italy in 1935 and was the youngest in the family. After many heartaches and the war, the family immigrated to Montreal in 1948 – because of Mom’s insistence.  They all worked hard on her Aunt’s farm until they moved to Hamilton where she eventually met the love of her life – Otto (Dad).  They married in 1956 and had 5 children together. In their latter years they settled on Manitoulin Island making Kagawong their final home. Mom worked hard all her life and was Dad’s greatest supporter.  She was ever thankful to him for introducing the Bahai Faith to her and remained a strong and faithful soul. Mom fiercely loved her ever growing family but we also know how she loved her animals – all her many pets and also the wildlife, the many hummingbirds that she tended to, ‘Charlie’ the turkey, ‘Maggie’ the piebold deer who came running to her when she called and all the other deer who visited her at her bedroom window at the Lodge in Gore Bay over the past three years.  All our lives are better because of her and we are eternally grateful to her for her constant love and dedication to us all.

Love you so much Mom!
