Douglas Ronald Gordon

Gordon- Douglas of Gore Bay, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 19th, 2016 at Manitoulin Lodge in his 85th year. Doug will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Helen (Purvis), children Scott (Diane) of Lac La Biche, AB, Lynn Fraser (Randy) of Sherwood Park, AB and Laurie Bartlett (Stephen) of Terrace, B.C. Loving Grandpa of Sara, Heather, Rae, Don, Christine and Jeff. Great Grandpa of Ashley, Aurora, Issy, Colwyn, Kade, Kaitlyn, Jax, Sammy, Stevie, Mackie, Charlotte and River.
Predeceased by his parents Ronnie and Lizzy (McDougall) Gordon and brother Ian Gordon.
Doug enjoyed a 42 year career with the Bank of Montreal, moving his family multiple times throughout Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. He was a "Fellow of the Canadian Bankers Association" through study at Queen's and McGill Universities, a long term Rotary member and past President and a long standing member of the Gore Bay Masonic Lodge. In 2000 he returned home to retire on Manitoulin Island where he enjoyed his hobbies of boating, fishing and hunting. As per Doug's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on July 30, 2016 at Lyons Memorial United Church at 11:00 am. Interment Gordon Cemetery.
