In Loving Memory of
Joseph Charles Merrylees,
born January 5th, 1953, and passed away peacefully March 18th, 2026,
with his loving wife by his side, Susan Merrylees (Boyd) of 22 years.
He was born in Gordon Township and resided in Gore Bay.
He was the son of the late Jim and Kal Merrylees.
Joe’s love for his wife Sue was undeniable. His sons, grandchildren, and Sue were his world. Family was the most important part of his life. His love for life was infectious, and laughter filled every room he entered.
Fishing, hunting, and maple syrup making brought him great joy, and he loved sharing his knowledge with his friends and family.
He was a devoted mechanic of Manitoulin Transport for 45 years, since April 26th, 1976, until he retired. He volunteered for the town of Gore Bay as a firefighter for 30 years and was an active member of the Gore Bay Legion.
Loving father of Craig Merrylees (Melissa), Kent Merrylees (Chelsea), Nevin Merrylees (Karly), and Mitchell Graham (Kayla).
Proud Poppa Joe to Joseph, Kayda, Matthew, Kali, Kaiden, Lyric, Kalan, Lainey, Ethan, and Brady.
Dear brother of Kaye Nadeau (predeceased Danny), Jean and Mike Gibbs, Bob and Connie Merrylees, Barb Middaugh (Jean), predeceased Steve, and Jamie Merrylees (Debbie).
Loved by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Burial and celebration of life to follow at a later date.
