In Loving Memory of
Lillian Aldeen Crate
August 28th, 1927 - August 20th, 2024
After a long and well lived life we are saddened to announce the passing of our mom, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She passed away peacefully in her sleep
on August 20th, 2024 just shy of her 97th birthday.
She was a loving and caring mother to her only son, Kevin and daughter in law, Cindy. Wonderful grandma to Amanda (Dan) and Dale (Florrie). The best great-grandma, or better known as "white-hair grandma" to Ryder.
Aldeen was the only daughter of the late
James and Maude (Bailey) Bell.
Dear sister to Reg Bell. Predeceased by her brothers Delbert,
Morris (Ellen) and Blaine (Jean).
Aldeen grew up and spent her childhood on Manitoulin Island.
She moved to Sudbury when she married her
husband Ronald Crate, until eventually returning to the Island and living in Mindemoya for the past 10 years.
Aldeen will be missed by many
nieces, nephews, neigbours and friends.
Aldeen was a sweet and kind person. She loved to spend time with her family and visit with her brothers, friends, and neighbours. She loved children and was especially proud of her son and her grandkids. She always made time for a game of chinese checkers or jenga with Ryder,
even in her later years.
Aldeen had many hobbies over the years with a true talent for quilting, knitting, sewing, and baking. She was an avid reader and enjoyed many mystery novels. She would always make Dale cinnamon buns, Dan lemon meringue pie, Kevin gum drop cookies and Ryder ginger cookies when she knew they were coming for a visit. She was an excellent cook and taught Amanda how to make many dishes
that she will carry on with her family.
Our family would like to thank all the staff at Mindemoya Hospital for their excellent care. We also thank the staff at Manitoulin Lodge Nursing Home
for their care during her stay.
Aldeen will be deeply missed.
