Loretta was born in Sheshegwaning and spent her time there being a beacon and shining light of love, community, strength and togetherness. During her life, she was an elder in the community where she taught the generations to share their rich history, culture and the teachings that were passed down to her.

Through her passion to enrich every life she came across, she was beloved and became a pillar in her community and subsequently loved anyone and everyone she came across. Loretta served on the Sheshegwaning Band Council for many years as well as many Indigenous Boards of Directors and Elders Advisory Committees.
Her greatest passion was organizing the Sheshegwaning Pow Wows for many years.

What brought her the greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and close friends. She especially enjoyed road trips in Canada and the US, adventurous hiking trails with Zoe, cooking, harvesting and casino outings with her son Dean. She made the greatest Halloween costumes for her children and grandchildren. She loved shouting bingo with her best friend Debbie-baa.
More than that, she enjoyed life and everything that it encompassed. She enjoyed every special moment she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They will forever be loved as she watches over them.

It’s hard to sum up Loretta’s life and impact in a few paragraphs,
but if it had to be done with one word, that word would be “incredible”.
