Maria Paddock McDermid

McDERMID - Maria, passed away peacefully on Thursday November 17, 2016 at Mindemoya Hospital in her 91st year. Beloved mother of David (Bev), Gordon (Marilyn) and Robert (Brenda), and dear sister of Fred (Margaret) Scott. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Angela (Mike), Terri (David), Pamela (Kevin), Gordon Jr. (Lavonne), T.J. (Leslie), Cameron and Leah, as well as her great grandchildren Carson, Mika, Sebastien, Natalie, Theodore, Spencer, Parker, Zachary and Evan. Predeceased by her husband Ken (2014), parents William and Sarah (Strain) Scott, brothers John (Laura) Scott, Ted (Marie) Scott, sisters Margaret (Bill) Blackburn, Beatrice (Charlie) Beange, Lottie Mae (Jack) McDonald and sister in law Jean Hale.
Maria, a teacher through life began her career in the one room school house. She was part of many community organizations and a lifelong church member. She enjoyed cooking and handwork, especially knitting. After her retirement in 1984 she loved to travel and see the world. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. Visitation will be held at the Spring Bay Pentecostal Church on Monday November 21 from 10 am until time of the funeral service at 11 am. Interment will be held on Saturday November 26th at 11 am at Providence Bay Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Mindemoya Hospital Auxiliary or the Manitoulin Student Aid Fund as expressions of sympathy and may be made through www.simpsonfuneralhome.ca
