In Loving Memory of
Thomas Henry Foster
September 16, 1937 - August 4, 2024
Tom Foster, a resident of Gore Bay, died peacefully at the Mindemoya Hospital on August 4, 2024 at the age of 86. He grew up in Mills Township, the son of the late Richard and Josephine (Van Meer) Foster. He left Mills at the age of 16, went to Toronto and worked at the corn starch factory. He left there and went out to Manitoba and worked on the pipeline. He later started working for Wahl Plumbing and continued in that field for more than 40 years. He met his wife Joyce out there and they got married. They moved back to Orangeville in Ontario where he obtained his plumbing license at McKena Bros. in Guelph. They then moved back to Manitoulin in 1970 where he started his own business of plumbing and heating, retiring in 1997.
He loved to hunt and spent hours watching the deer in the fields at the McKay farm, especially watching for a big buck he hoped to get come archery season. During gun season he loved to get out to the hunt camp with Bart, Darryl and Bob Montgomery.
He loved to get together with friends and reminisce about things. He has a good memory of people and who they were related to.
Dearly loved husband of Joyce (Hintz) Foster for 62 years.
Loving and loved father of Bart (Darlene) and Darryl (Kelly predeceased).
Proud and loving grandfather of Dean (Britany), Brea (Jordan), Barret (Cortney), Brady and Dylan.
Great grandfather of Cecilia and Rory.
Dear brother of Elaine (Gerald) McCauley, Fledda (Bill) Ryder, Vivian (Reg) McKay (all predeceased) and Joe (Marie predeceased) Foster.
Brother-in-law of Charlotte (Bill predeceased), Beverley (Terry predeceased), Marilyn (Albert predeceased) and Edith Thurston.
Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
